The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for implementation research focused on non-communicable disease (NCD) risk factors among low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) populations living in urban environments. This initiative aims to solicit applications that propose innovative strategies to reduce the burden of chronic NCDs, such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, particularly in city settings where environmental factors contribute to health disparities. The FOA will support research that enhances the adoption and integration of evidence-based health interventions, with applications expected from U.S. and eligible LMIC institutions. Interested applicants should prepare for the anticipated application due dates in Winter/Spring 2023, and can reach out to Brad Newsome, PhD, at brad.newsome@nih.gov or 301-480-8389 for further information.
