This Mutual Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) between a COMPANY and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) outlines the terms for sharing confidential information, particularly "Nonpublic Information" and "Controlled Unclassified Information" (CUI), related to US currency designs, manufacturing processes, security features, and various BEP internal data. The agreement, effective for five years, mandates indefinite confidentiality for disclosed information, restricting its use solely to contract deliverables. Receiving Parties must protect the information with reasonable care, disclose it only to employees on a need-to-know basis, and return or destroy all materials upon termination or request. The BEP can share information with other US government entities and partners, while the COMPANY requires written permission and a separate NDA for third-party disclosures. Exceptions to confidentiality include legally compelled disclosures (with prior notice to the Disclosing Party) and information already public or independently acquired. Non-compliance with CUI handling requirements, as per Executive Order 13556 and 32 CFR 2002, must be reported. The agreement clarifies that no intellectual property rights are conferred, and information is provided "as is." Breaches may result in injunctive relief, and neither party can use the other's name for promotional purposes without consent. This NDA supersedes all prior understandings and is governed by federal law.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving & Printing (BEP), has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for "Covert Security Features" for future generations of U.S. currency. This RFI seeks information on technologies and materials for covert, visual authentication features to deter counterfeiting, effective against traditional printing and digital reproduction. Proposed features should be incorporated into the banknote or applied to it, not requiring external verification. The BEP is interested in technologies and materials for which laboratory feasibility has been demonstrated. Submissions should include company information, specific capability and technical/product information, general budgetary cost and delivery details, and a customer list. Responses are due by 5:00 PM EST on November 26, 2025, via email to Frederick Porter and Susan Dela Cruz. This is solely for project planning and does not obligate the government to award a contract or pay for submitted information.
