The Department of Agriculture, specifically the Forest Service, is seeking contractors for the Roan Hazard Tree Debris Removal project in the National Forests in North Carolina. This initiative aims to address the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, which affected approximately 25 acres on Roan Mountain, by cutting and removing hazardous trees and debris, thereby enhancing forest health and safety. The project involves the removal of sawtimber, pulpwood, and biomass, with an estimated timber volume of 250 tons of sawtimber, 150 tons of pulpwood, and 250 tons of biomass, all to be compensated at appraised rates. A pre-solicitation site visit is scheduled for May 1, 2025, with a Request for Quotes expected around May 7, 2025, and the contract will be awarded based on a best value source selection method.
