The Department of Homeland Security, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), is seeking multi-family rental properties for the Multifamily Lease and Repair (MLR) program in response to Tropical Storm Helene (DR-4832-TN). Property owners in the affected counties of Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins, Johnson, Unicoi, and Washington, or those within a reasonable commuting distance, are invited to submit their properties that can be repaired to meet safety standards and accommodate FEMA applicants for up to 18 months. This initiative aims to provide temporary housing for individuals displaced by the disaster by utilizing existing rental properties rather than assisting current tenants. Interested property owners must respond by November 15, 2024, and can direct inquiries to George Brown and Michael Sutton at fema-mlr-dr4832tn@fema.dhs.gov.
