Special Notice: ENERGY, DEPARTMENT OF is seeking MISCELLANEOUS FIBER OPTIC COMPONENTS for the INL Innovation Spotlight Advanced Radiation Monitoring: Fieldable Long-Length Scintillating Fibers project. This technology utilizes durable, long scintillating fibers combined with regular optical fibers to effectively detect and monitor radiation in challenging environments. It offers an efficient solution for monitoring vast and inaccessible areas such as nuclear repositories, waste facilities, and medical irradiation therapy facilities. The technology includes ruggedized fibers, mirrors for signal enhancement, and a light source for integrity verification, addressing a gap in the current market. This comprehensive radiation monitoring system has applications in various environments and industries, including geological repositories, nuclear material storage, nuclear reactors, medical facilities, and radiation-contaminated sites.
