The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) is seeking input through a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the Carbon Storage Assurance Facility Enterprise (CarbonSAFE), specifically focusing on a mid-course evaluation of its progress in carbon storage technologies. The initiative, launched in 2016, aims to establish a commercial large-scale geologic carbon storage infrastructure to meet ambitious CO2 injection targets of 65 million metric tons annually by 2030 and 100 million by 2035, while addressing both technical and non-technical challenges. Stakeholders, including project developers, regulators, and community leaders, are invited to provide their insights by December 20, 2024, to enhance the program's effectiveness and community engagement, with responses submitted electronically to CarbonSAFE_RFI@netl.doe.gov. For further inquiries, Carla J. Winaught can be contacted at 304-285-4530 or via email at carla.winaught@netl.doe.gov.
