The Department of the Treasury, specifically the United States Mint, is seeking sources for the development of an anti-tarnish treatment for silver numismatics. The primary objective is to create a monolayer for multiple alloys, which involves testing and modifying the burnishing recipe used at the San Francisco Mint, determining the appropriate application of the anti-tarnish chemical, and conducting stamping trials to assess any adverse effects. This initiative is crucial for ensuring the longevity and quality of minted coins, as it addresses corrosion and tarnishing issues that can affect numismatic products.
