The Department of Transportation, through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), is conducting a Market Survey/Request for Information (RFI) to gather insights for establishing the Center for Advanced Aviation Technologies (CAAT) as mandated by the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024. The CAAT aims to facilitate the advancement of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and emerging aviation technologies by developing an airspace laboratory, flight demonstration zones, and testing corridors, with a target establishment date of September 30, 2026. This initiative is crucial for enhancing the safety and efficiency of the aerospace system, and the FAA seeks input from industry, academia, and government entities regarding feasibility, costs, and potential locations for the CAAT infrastructure. Interested parties must submit their responses by January 6, 2025, detailing their qualifications, capabilities, and proposed sites, and can contact Chersharon King at chersharon.y.king@faa.gov or Michael Leichtman at Michael.Leichtman@faa.gov for further information.
