The Department of Veterans Affairs is exploring the market for potential suppliers of ultra-low temperature laboratory freezers for its healthcare system in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This request for information (RFI) is an initial step for market research and does not constitute a solicitation.
The VA seeks a freezer with specific dimensions and capabilities for use in a microbiology laboratory. The exterior dimensions should fall within a range of 28-31.5 inches in width, 33-35 inches in depth, and 77-78.5 inches in height. The freezer must have a storage capacity of 18-24 cubic feet and a temperature range of -50 to -90 degrees Celsius, adjustable in 1-degree increments. It should be compatible with existing electrical outlets and have a self-closing, front-opening door with an integral lock. Internal doors should create a vacuum seal, and the freezer should have features like an LCD touch screen, alarm system, and adjustable shelves. It also needs to comply with energy efficiency and environmental standards.
Interested parties are encouraged to respond with their company information, size status, and capabilities. The VA wants to identify potential sources for this requirement, especially small businesses. Responses should include pricing information and a detailed submission addressing the salient characteristics of the freezer.
The VA emphasizes that this RFI is for planning purposes only. A solicitation may follow after evaluating the responses. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, August 1st, 2024, at 1:00 PM Pacific Time.
