The focus areas include shipboard power generation, electric propulsion, power conversion, energy storage, distribution and control, power quality, continuity, and system stability. The Navy is particularly interested in technologies that can improve energy efficiency, power density, and carbon footprint compared to existing propulsion and power system technologies. They are also looking for advancements in energy storage, power conversion, power distribution, prime movers (including power generation), rotating machines (including generators and propulsion motors), cooling and thermal management, power controls, and system interplay, interfacing, and integration.
