The Department of Defense, specifically the Department of the Navy, is seeking professional fine art conservation services for paintings and frames housed in the National Museum of the Marine Corps. The goal is to preserve and restore nine historical artworks, ensuring their long-term display and storage.
The scope of work involves assessing, treating, and reporting on the condition of the paintings, with a focus on maintaining structural integrity and appearance. Vendors must adhere to American Institute for Conservation (AIC) standards and provide a secure facility for the project. Key tasks include an intake meeting, conservation work, and close collaboration with the museum's Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for guidance and approval. Four of the paintings require conservation by April 2025, with specific completion dates for each artwork.
The contract is anticipated to be firm-fixed price, including travel and per diem expenses. Vendors interested in this total small business set-aside must submit their quotes by the deadline on August 2, 2024. The evaluation process will consider past performance, technical compliance, and price, with the lowest conforming quote being given the contract.
Eligible applicants should have expertise and experience in art conservation, demonstrating a understanding of the unique needs of historical paintings. They should possess the necessary qualifications and facilities to undertake the work, and provide a secure environment for the artwork.
