    The Department of Health and Human Services, Department of, National Institutes of Health, intends to procure an ultrasound unit for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center (CC) Office of Interventional Radiology. The purpose of this acquisition is to obtain an ultrasound unit for medical purposes.

    The procurement is for a SonoSite LX Ultrasound System, along with various transducers. The proposed vendor, FujiFilm Sonosite, Inc., is the only source available to provide this medical device to the NIH CC Department of Interventional Radiology with the required specifications for data management, data security, and connectivity.

    This acquisition falls under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 – Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), which allows for solicitation from one source if the contracting officer determines that only one source is reasonably available.
