The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Cameca Instruments Inc. for the upgrade of the Instrument Control Computer and Software for the NIST-owned Cameca/Ametek Ion Microscope Spectrometer 1280. This procurement aims to enhance the software and data acquisition capabilities of the existing spectrometer, which is crucial for the Materials Measurement Science Division's research in elemental and isotopic characterization of micrometer-sized particulates. The upgrade is necessary to maintain the instrument's performance and extend its operational lifespan, as it involves proprietary technology that is only available from the original equipment manufacturer. Interested parties may submit responses by February 18, 2025, to Erik Frycklund at erik.frycklund@nist.gov or Donald Graham at donald.graham@nist.gov for consideration.
