The Department of Defense (DoD) is seeking proposals for the development of a Solid-State Scalable/Tileable Imaging Detector for High-Energy Neutron Radiography, aimed at enhancing neutron imaging capabilities. The objective is to create a state-of-the-art imaging detector that can be constructed on a chip, with Phase I focusing on proving the principle through a white paper study, and Phase II involving the construction of a tiled detector measuring at least 11 inches square, effective for 1 MeV neutrons. This technology is crucial for various DoD applications, including the inspection of Army ammunition and armaments, as well as commercial uses in airport screening and UAV operations. The solicitation is currently closed, with the application due date having been set for July 30, 2024.
