The Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement of the U.S. Department of State is inviting applications for a Mental Health Awareness and Training Program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of El Salvador's juvenile justice institutions. This initiative seeks to provide comprehensive training, education, and mentorship for health, social care, and criminal justice practitioners, focusing on improving the recognition, assessment, intervention, and management of mental health issues among staff working in various juvenile justice facilities. The program is critical for fostering a better understanding of mental health challenges within the juvenile justice system, impacting over 500 staff members across multiple centers. Interested organizations can apply for funding ranging from $450,000 to $600,000, with a submission deadline of July 16, 2024.
