The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Community Services (OCS), seeks applications for Medical-Legal Partnerships Plus (MLP+) funding. MLP+ aims to support partnerships between medical and legal professionals to provide comprehensive legal and social services to low-income families. The goal is to address health-harming legal needs and improve overall health outcomes.
OCS plans to award approximately $1.6 million through a competitive process to a limited number of applicants. Eligible entities include long-standing medical-legal partnerships. Applications from individuals or foreign entities are not eligible for this funding opportunity. It is expected that around six awards will be granted between $100,000 and $250,000 each.
The scope of work for this opportunity involves building and expanding the capacity of MLPs to deliver enhanced legal services and strengthen partnerships with social service providers. Recipients will also participate in a federal evaluation, adhering to data collection and provision requirements.
Applicants should have experience and expertise in providing legal services to vulnerable populations and a track record of successful partnerships with medical and social service organizations. A cost-sharing or matching requirement is also specified in the opportunity.
The submission deadline is expected to be around May 2025, with estimated awards being announced by the end of August 2025. Applications will be electronically submitted and must include a detailed budget and narrative justifications.
In evaluating applications, ACF will consider the extent to which proposals align with the goals of MLP+, the applicant's ability to implement and evaluate their proposed efforts, and the strength of their partnerships. Budget and workplan details will also be assessed.
For further information and to apply, applicants should refer to the full Notice of Funding Opportunity, which will be released prior to the application deadline. Questions can be directed to Thom Campbell at thom.campbell@acf.hhs.gov or (202) 868-9434.
