The Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) under the Department of Education is offering the International Foreign Language Education (IFLE): Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad (FRA) Fellowship Program. This grant opportunity aims to provide funding for colleges and universities to support faculty members in conducting research abroad to enhance their area studies and foreign language skills. The program is designed to contribute to the development and improvement of the study of modern foreign languages and area studies in the United States. Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education (IHEs), and eligible faculty members at the IHEs can submit their research narratives and application forms through their home IHE representative. The fellowship is open to faculty members who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, employed by an IHE, have been engaged in teaching relevant to their foreign language or area studies specialization for the past two years, propose research relevant to their specialization, and possess sufficient foreign language skills. The grant does not require cost sharing or matching. The total program funding available is $750,000. The application deadline is April 23, 2024. For more information and to obtain an application package, interested parties can visit the official website or contact Dr. Pamela J. Maimer at the U.S. Department of Education.
