The National Science Foundation is offering a Major Research Instrumentation Program grant. This grant aims to increase access to multi-user scientific and engineering instrumentation for research and research training in institutions of higher education and not-for-profit scientific/engineering research organizations. The grant supports the acquisition of commercially available research instruments or the development of instruments with new capabilities. The funding can be used for personnel costs and equipment required for instrument development. The grant is intended to enhance expertise in instrument design and fabrication and to advance fundamental science and engineering research. The maximum funding amount is $4 million, and each performing organization can submit up to four proposals within the defined track limits. The grant especially encourages proposals from underrepresented groups, institutions, and geographic regions in STEM disciplines. Women, underrepresented minorities, persons with disabilities, and early-career researchers are encouraged to apply. The grant also supports research capacity building in under-resourced institutions and emerging research institutions.
