The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is inviting applications for the Coordinating Center of the ML/AI Tools to Advance Genomic Translational Research (MAGen) Consortium. This initiative aims to develop machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to enhance the prediction of disease manifestation from pathogenic genetic variants, while also addressing the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of integrating these technologies into genomic medicine. The program is structured in two phases: the UG3 phase focuses on designing a consortium-wide framework, and the UH3 phase emphasizes implementing these frameworks and resources. Eligible applicants include higher education institutions, nonprofits, and government organizations, with a budget of up to $800,000 per year for five years, totaling an anticipated investment of $1.2 million for one award. Applications are due by July 29, 2024, and interested parties can reach out to NIH Grants Information at grantsinfo@nih.gov for further inquiries.
