Veterans Employment and Training Service
The Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) of the U.S. Department of Labor is announcing Stand Down Grants. These grants support local Stand Down events that assist veterans experiencing homelessness by providing a wide range of employment, social, and health services. Stand Down is a military term referring to an opportunity for troops to achieve a brief respite from combat. Similarly, a DOL VETS-funded Stand Down event serves as a respite for veterans experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. These events provide critical services that often enable individuals to reenter the workforce. The grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis and support one-day or multi-day events with funding up to $7,000 or $10,000, respectively. Stand Down events are collaborative efforts between VA, DOL, other federal, state, and local government agencies, and community-based organizations. Eligible applicants include various government entities, non-profit and for-profit organizations, workforce boards, educational institutions, housing authorities, and faith-based organizations. In the event of a federal disaster declaration, VETS may accept applications up to $50,000 for Stand Down events in impacted areas.
