The Department of Defense, specifically the Department of the Air Force, has issued a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation notice for the procurement of weapon covers. These covers are used to provide vital elemental protection against rain, sleet, and snow to ensure operational capability in support of nuclear operations. The weapon covers will offer a waterproof moisture barrier, high wind speed protection, and stay securely fixed to weapons to avoid frost buildup while in the elements and during travel. They must be designed for pedestal mounted weapons and form to MK-19s, M-240s, and M-249s interchangeably. The dimensions of the covers must be at least 31” wide, 30” tall, and 47” long. Additionally, the covers must fully encase all weapon components including ammo and optics while mounted in a loaded configuration. They should be easily deployable without needing to dismount the weapon or remove any attachments. The covers must have a maintenance-free zipper to secure them over the weapon systems and should be made of a multi-layer fabric system, with a durable fabric base layer to provide rigidity and an outer layer made of waterproof marine fabric. The place of performance for this procurement is North Dakota, United States.
