The Department of Defense, through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District, is seeking information from qualified companies regarding the design and availability of temporary construction enclosures for the Waste Retrieval Facility (WRF) at the Niagara Falls Storage Site (NFSS) in Lewiston, New York. The primary objective is to create enclosures that will prevent radon releases during the excavation of contaminated materials, with specific requirements including structural resilience, HVAC integration, and the ability to maintain internal negative pressure to control toxic gas emissions. This initiative is part of a broader remediation effort addressing radioactive waste from historical military projects, underscoring the importance of environmental health and regulatory compliance. Interested parties must submit their capabilities, design approaches, and financial qualifications by December 9, 2024, and can contact Douglas Smith at douglas.smith@usace.army.mil or Tyrone Palaganas at tyrone.b.palaganas@usace.army.mil for further information.
