Special Notice: NATIONAL AERONAUTICS AND SPACE ADMINISTRATION is seeking inquiries from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture, and market a new background-oriented schlieren (BOS) imaging technique developed at the NASA Langley Research Center (LAR). The BOS imaging technique enables vibration-tolerant, real-time, and reference-free imaging for scientific investigations or industrial flow monitoring. Unlike traditional BOS imaging, this technique does not require a physical pattern within the flow, making it insensitive to changing conditions. The projected BOS imaging system provides a significant advancement over other BOS flow visualization techniques and has been successfully tested in visualizing air flow. Interested parties can submit a license application through NASA's Automated Technology Licensing Application System (ATLAS). For more information, visit the NASA Technology Transfer Portal. No follow-on procurement is expected from this notice.
