The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is preparing to issue a Fiscal Year 2025 Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) focused on the development and demonstration of mine safety and health technology. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and health of mineworkers by soliciting research and development proposals for new technologies or adaptations from other industries that can be implemented in mining environments. The program is rooted in the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response Act of 2006, which established the Office of Mine Safety and Health Research to promote technological advancements in mining safety. Interested contractors should note that the BAA is expected to be released on December 12, 2024, with concept papers due by January 10, 2025. For further inquiries, potential offerors can contact Eugene Marrone at xve9@cdc.gov.
