Special Notice: ENERGY, DEPARTMENT OF is seeking support for the procurement of novel training surrogates for emergency response training. These surrogates are used as substitute materials for actual radioactive materials in training exercises. The surrogates are carefully selected and developed to mimic the properties of the target industrial radioisotope materials, including their radioactive emissions and chemical dispersion properties. They have short half-lives, decay to stable or short-lived non-toxic isotopes, and closely resemble the physical and chemical properties of the radioactive materials. These surrogates have been proven to be highly effective in providing realistic training for emergency response methods, procedures, and technologies. The procurement is being conducted by BATTELLE ENERGY ALLIANCE–DOE CNTR. The place of performance is Idaho Falls, ID, USA. For more information, please contact Andrew Rankin at andrew.rankin@inl.gov.
