The Space Systems Command (SSC) has issued a two-step Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) to solicit innovative technical approaches that enhance space and cyber technologies for countering emerging threats. This initiative aligns with the U.S. Space Force's strategic goals and encourages partnerships with the industry to foster innovation and reduce costs. The announcement permits concept papers to be submitted until February 2029, with a total funding cap of $99 million. Proposed solutions should focus on enhancing survivability, space domain awareness, offensive and defensive counterspace capabilities, command and control efficiencies, and training environments.
Concept papers are evaluated based on relevance, technical merit, affordability, and implementation feasibility. Successful submissions may lead to invitations for full proposals, but an invitation does not guarantee contract awards. The use of non-government advisors is permitted under strict confidentiality protocols, and submitters need to document any proprietary data or potential conflicts of interest. The document outlines specific areas of research interest, submission guidelines, and evaluation criteria to ensure a robust application process, highlighting the government's commitment to developing superior space control capabilities.
