The Department of Transportation, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is seeking qualified contractors for the National Child Restraint Use Special Study (NCRUSS) II, aimed at evaluating the current usage and misuse of child restraint systems in vehicles. This study will involve comprehensive data collection through large-scale surveys, driver interviews, and observational assessments to determine usage rates, types of misuse, and driver attitudes regarding child safety seats for children aged zero to twelve. The initiative is critical for enhancing child passenger safety and aims to produce actionable insights that will inform regulations and practices to reduce injuries and fatalities among young passengers.
