The Department of Defense (DOD) is seeking proposals for a networking platform that can relay real-time information on personnel health status and location during shipboard emergencies. The platform should integrate with existing wireless systems on ships and provide a flexible graphical user interface (GUI) for command and control nodes. The goal is to optimize damage control responses, mitigate crew casualties, and improve the efficiency of containment and repair of combat damage. The platform should be capable of transmitting data through metal bulkheads and meet cybersecurity requirements. The project will be conducted in three phases, starting with a feasibility demonstration and culminating in the development of a prototype platform. The resulting technology will be transitioned for further development and testing by the Naval Advanced Medical Development and/or the Naval Sea Systems Command. The small business should also develop a plan for commercialization and mass production of the technology. The solicitation is closed, and more details can be found on the grants.gov website.
