The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) to gather insights on advanced modeling and sensing techniques for the exploration and characterization of critical mineral deposits in the subsurface. This initiative, in collaboration with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), aims to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of identifying domestic critical mineral resources, addressing concerns over reliance on foreign supplies. The RFI specifically seeks input from universities, small businesses, and research organizations regarding transformative technologies that can improve data acquisition and 3-D analysis using artificial intelligence and machine learning. Responses to this RFI should be submitted in PDF format to ARPA-E-RFI@hq.doe.gov by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on November 4, 2024, and further details can be found at https://arpa-e-foa.energy.gov.
