Summary:
The Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity for a Cooperative Agreement to facilitate new geologic mapping activities as part of the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI) in FY2024. The funding will support the collection of geophysical, geologic, geochemical, and topographic data in areas of critical mineral potential across the nation. The mapping activities will contribute to our understanding of domestic resources, groundwater resources, geologic hazards, and infrastructure dependencies on subsurface geology. The funding will be awarded to individual State Geological Surveys, with a total anticipated funding of $20M for approximately 24 projects. The USGS will have substantial involvement in promoting program objectives, monitoring progress, and agreeing on milestones and accomplishments. The funding opportunity is open to State Governments, and applications must be submitted electronically by the listed due date. For more information, contact Amber Brazil at abrazil@usgs.gov.
