NASA's Johnson Space Center has announced the 2025 Human Exploration Research Opportunities (HERO) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), inviting proposals for applied research that supports NASA's Human Research Program (HRP). The research will focus on five key elements: Space Radiation, Human Health Countermeasures, Exploration Medical Capability, Human Factors and Behavioral Performance, and Research Operations and Integration, aiming to enhance human health and performance for safe and productive space exploration. Awards will range from under $250,000 for limited efforts to $1.2 million for extensive projects, with a total funding pool that may reach several million dollars, and proposals are due in a staggered manner from December 2, 2024, through October 2025.
