The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is offering Species Recovery Grants to federally recognized Native American tribal governments to support conservation efforts for threatened, endangered, and candidate species under its jurisdiction. The grants aim to fund projects that demonstrate a direct impact on species conservation, particularly those aligned with NOAA's Species in the Spotlight initiative, which includes specific endangered species such as the Gulf of Maine distinct population segment of Atlantic salmon and the Hawaiian monk seal. Eligible applicants can receive funding ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 over a maximum period of three years, with proposals evaluated based on relevance, technical merit, and cost realism. Interested tribes must submit their applications by October 31, 2024, and can contact Heather Austin at Heather.Austin@noaa.gov for further guidance.
