The Bureau of African Affairs of the U.S. Department of State is inviting organizations to submit a statement of interest (SOI) for a cooperative agreement aimed at providing operational mentorship to the Somalia National Army (SNA) and select troop contributing countries involved in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM). The program seeks to build on previous U.S. funded activities that have focused on enhancing the capabilities of the SNA, particularly the Danab light infantry brigade, to conduct operations in compliance with human rights and armed conflict laws. This initiative is crucial for the ongoing stabilization and security efforts in southern and central Somalia, with funding ranging from $10 million to $15 million and a single award anticipated. Interested applicants can reach out to Michala Hall at HallMM@state.gov, and the application deadline is set for December 8, 2024.
