The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is offering the Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund Grant Program, specifically targeting the commercialization and innovation of open radio units (RUs) within the wireless supply chain. This grant aims to accelerate the development of open RU products that meet carrier needs and enhance their performance through targeted research and development, thereby facilitating the adoption of open and interoperable radio access networks (RAN) by Mobile Network Operators (MNOs). The initiative is crucial for advancing the transition to open wireless networks, which can significantly impact the wireless market by providing low-risk deployment options for MNOs. Interested applicants, including for-profit and non-profit companies, institutions of higher education, and industry partnerships, must submit their proposals by July 17, 2024, and can reach out to Misty L Roosa at grants@nist.gov for further inquiries.
