The Department of Homeland Security, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), has announced the FIFA World Cup Grant Program (FWCGP), offering $625 million in federal funding to enhance security and preparedness for the 2026 FIFA World Cup events in the United States. This grant program aims to address significant security challenges associated with the 78 U.S.-based matches, which are classified as high-risk Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR) I and II events, necessitating robust security measures for players, staff, attendees, and critical infrastructure across 11 host cities. Eligible state governments will receive awards ranging from $32 million to $74 million, with applications due by December 5, 2025, and must be submitted through the FEMA GO system.
