The U.S. Mission to Benin, under the U.S. Embassy Cotonou Public Diplomacy Section, is seeking Statements of Interest (SOI) for a funding opportunity. The grant aims to strengthen ties between the United States and Benin through cultural and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. The grant is open to various types of organizations, including registered not-for-profit organizations, individuals, non-profit or governmental educational institutions, and governmental institutions. The funding amount ranges from $5,000 to $25,000, with a total available funding of $145,000. The grant period is expected to be 6 to 12 months. The deadline for submission of SOIs is May 30, 2024. The program should include an American cultural element or a connection with American experts, organizations, or institutions. Priority program objectives include vulnerable groups empowerment, investigative journalism, U.S.-Benin partnership, and skills for success. The grant does not fund programs relating to partisan political activity, for-profit programs, charitable or development activities, construction programs, programs that support specific religious activities, fund-raising campaigns, lobbying for specific legislation or programs, scientific research, programs intended primarily for the growth or institutional development of the organization, or programs that duplicate existing programs.
