The Geological Survey is offering a funding opportunity for hydrologic research in the Dakotas and Missouri River basin. This opportunity is for a CESU partner to participate in various hydrologic issues, including studying the water availability and quality of groundwater and surface water and their effects on aquifers, watersheds, and reservoirs. The research will address challenges faced by water resource managers in the Dakotas, such as energy development, drought, floods, climate variability, land-use and climatic changes, water contamination, and surface water dynamics. The Dakota Water Science Center (DWSC) will collaborate with federal, state, local, and tribal partners to study the physical effects of external stresses on groundwater and surface water systems and associated ecosystems. The research aims to advance understanding of how to apply scientific knowledge to decision-making processes under conditions of great uncertainty. The funding opportunity is a cooperative agreement and does not require cost sharing or matching. The award ceiling is $400,000, and the award floor is $51,000. The application deadline is July 15, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. ET. For more information, contact FAITH GRAVES at
