The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is preparing to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the NIEHS Worker Training Program's Hazardous Materials Worker Health and Safety Training (U45), which will not allow clinical trials. This funding opportunity aims to support the development of health and safety training for workers involved in hazardous materials activities, including generation, removal, containment, and emergency response, as authorized by the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986. The program will focus on three areas: the Hazardous Waste Worker Training Program (HWWTP), the Environmental Career Worker Training Program (ECWTP), and the Hazmat Disaster Preparedness Training Program (HDPTP), with an estimated total funding of $6 million to support approximately five awards. Interested applicants, particularly those with expertise in occupational health and safety education, are encouraged to reach out to Sharon Beard at 984-287-3237 or via email at beard1@niehs.nih.gov, with applications expected to be submitted by November 25, 2025, and awards anticipated by June 1, 2026.
