The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is offering competitive grants through the Fiscal Years 2024-2026 Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-Saving Transportation (PROTECT) Program. This initiative aims to enhance the resilience of surface transportation systems against natural hazards, including climate change and extreme weather, by providing funding for various project categories such as Planning Grants, Resilience Improvement Grants, Community Resilience and Evacuation Route Grants, and At-Risk Coastal Infrastructure Grants. The program is part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and allocates approximately $876 million in total funding, with grants covering up to 100% for Planning Grants and up to 80% for Resilience Grants.
