The Department of Energy's Golden Field Office intends to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the Fiscal Year 2025 Solar Module and Solar Hardware (SMASH) Incubator, aimed at stimulating private investment in solar photovoltaic (PV) technology commercialization. This initiative seeks to support research and development (R&D) and demonstration projects across three key areas: crystalline silicon (c-Si) modules, cadmium telluride (CdTe) modules, and non-module hardware technology, with a focus on enhancing domestic manufacturing and improving system integration with the electric grid. The EERE has allocated $20 million for this program, which includes cost-sharing requirements, and applications must be submitted via the EERE eXCHANGE platform by the deadline of October 10, 2024. For further inquiries, interested applicants can contact EERE at EERE-eXCHANGESupport@hq.doe.gov.
