The U.S. Embassy Kuala Lumpur is inviting applications for the 2025 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Summit, a four-day event aimed at strengthening networks among emerging leaders aged 18-35 from ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste. The Summit will celebrate YSEALI alumni who have positively impacted their communities and focus on the four key themes of Economic Growth, Sustainable Development, Education, and Civic Engagement. The event will include discussions, workshops, and a Small Grants Competition for collaborative regional project proposals.
The U.S. government provides $700,000 in funding and seeks a cooperative agreement for organizing and executing the Summit, encouraging applications from non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Proposals should demonstrate creative engagement strategies, sustainability plans, and adherence to principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. The application deadline is August 1, 2024. A detailed monitoring and evaluation plan will also be necessary to assess project effectiveness. Selected participants will have opportunities for cultural exchange and will work alongside U.S. leaders to promote U.S.-ASEAN relations and youth leadership development.
