Description

The Geological Survey, under a Cooperative Agreement, is offering a funding opportunity for a CESU partner to develop a small, uncrewed aircraft system (sUAS)-based software-defined (SD) ground-penetrating radar (GPR) platform. This platform will be used to assess snowpack metrics and advance previous studies on avalanche risk assessment in real-time. The goal is to use a low-cost, rapid, and high-resolution sUAS platform for field assessments of snow properties that may indicate avalanche risk. The integration of SD GPR will improve safety, reduce operational costs, enhance real-time data delivery, and improve monitoring of complex snowpack conditions. The application deadline is March 25, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. ET. For more information, contact FAITH GRAVES at fgraves@usgs.gov.
