Securing Our Borders: Biometrics Assessment Event

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Technology Transfer and Commercialization Branch (T2C) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for its "Securing Our Borders: Biometrics Assessment Event" (AE). This RFI is for market research and planning, seeking biometric solutions to enhance screening at U.S. ports of entry. The goal is to identify and validate traveler identities seamlessly, without causing operational disruptions. DHS is looking for technologies that can automatically detect and collect biometric information, compare it against known traveler lists and watchlists, integrate with existing infrastructure, operate with minimal supervision, confirm identities of individuals in various positions (standing, walking, in vehicles), alert for derogatory information, and function in challenging environmental conditions (low light, extreme temperatures). Selected respondents will be invited to a virtual Assessment Event from October 7-9, 2025, where they will present their solutions. Successful assessments may lead to various agreements with DHS, including research and development agreements, prototype projects, or FAR-based procurement contracts. Interested parties from Industry, Academia, and National Labs are encouraged to submit white papers by September 21, 2025, after reviewing assessment criteria and attending an optional Q&A session on September 12, 2025.
