Special Notice: ENERGY, DEPARTMENT OF is offering a collaboration opportunity to further develop and commercialize a Method for Fabricating a Lightweight Space Telescope. This method involves fabricating a reflective telescope into a single silica substrate, providing exceptional mechanical stability and temperature insensitivity. The proposed Aeroptics technology combines the stability of monolithic telescopes with the low density of silica aerogels, enabling the creation of 1-meter aperture space-based telescopes with a mass of just 15kg. This technology has potential applications in space situational awareness, navigation, and remote sensing. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is seeking industry partners to bring this technology to the market. Interested companies should provide a statement of interest including company information, contact details, and a description of relevant expertise and facilities.
