The USGS Alaska Volcano Observatory (AVO) requires a 12-month service contract for its TESCAN MIRA4 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), located in Anchorage, Alaska. This contract will cover routine maintenance, software upgrades, and access to field engineers for unforeseen malfunctions to ensure the instrument remains operational and data valid for Quality Management System (QMS) purposes. Key provisions include priority telephone support with a 24-hour response, priority scheduling for site visits, replacement of failed components by factory-trained engineers, certified software updates, and one annual preventative maintenance and calibration. Additionally, the contract includes unscheduled maintenance visits, FEG Emitter replacements (one every two years), and all associated labor, parts, and travel expenses at no extra cost. The performance period is approximately December 12, 2025, to November 30, 2026.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to award a purchase order with Tescan USA Inc. in Warrendale, PA for a Scanning Electron Spectrometer (SEM) service contract in accordance with the SOW included in this announcement.   
  
Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Tescan USA Inc is, to the USGS knowledge, the only source because it is proprietary software required to operate and/or upgrade the software in the TESCAN SEM.  
  
The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a capability statement by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government.
