The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), specifically the Forest Service's Incident Procurement Logistics office, has issued a Sources Sought Notice for the development of a next-generation wildland fire hose. The objective is to identify or create a single standard hose that combines durability and ergonomic handling, aiming to replace the existing two-hose system with a more efficient solution. This new hose must exhibit high resistance to abrasion, punctures, and heat, weigh less than 9.5 lbs for a 1-inch diameter and 13 lbs for a 1.5-inch diameter, and have a service life exceeding five years. Interested parties are invited to submit capability statements by December 12, 2025, detailing how their products or development plans align with these specifications. For further inquiries, respondents can contact Sam Wu at sam.wu@usda.gov.
