The Department of Defense, through the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), is announcing the upcoming Carbon Crunch program, aimed at revolutionizing the production of hypersonic aeroshells. This initiative seeks to develop and implement advanced composite manufacturing methods for carbon-carbon (C-C) materials, focusing on creating a rapid, high-quality, and cost-effective end-to-end manufacturing process that can transition to hypersonic programs of record. The program is critical for addressing production bottlenecks and enabling scalable, agile production capabilities in defense applications. A Proposers Day is scheduled for early February 2026 in Arlington, VA, and interested parties can find more information and the Program Solicitation on sam.gov.
