Summary

Sources Sought DEPT OF DEFENSE DEPT OF THE ARMY is seeking potential sources to supply an elastomeric hydraulic press. This press is used for elastomeric sheet metal forming and is required to meet specific specifications. The press should have a custom frame 4-post design, a light curtain safety interlock, metal rear and side doors/guarding, and a remote operated two-handed control. It should also have a 36"x60" forming area with a 24" daylight, and use a set of three rubber pads for assembly. Additionally, the press should have a telescoping lower platen shuttle for loading and unloading, an integrated jib boom with a 6' reach, and a spare parts kit. The place of performance for this procurement is Corpus Christi, TX.

Description

The Army Contracting Command-Redstone Arsenal-Corpus Christi Army Depot, Contracting Office in Corpus Christi, Texas is issuing this sources sought as a means of conducting market research to identify potential sources that can supply an elatomeric hydraulic press in accordance with the guidance contained herein. The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. Based on the responses to this sources sought notice/market research, this requirement may be set-aside for small businesses (in full or in part) or procured through full and open competition.  Telephone inquiries will not be accepted or acknowledged, and no feedback or evaluations will be provided to companies regarding submissions.  THIS SOURCES SOUGHT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) TO BE SUBMITTED. IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A SOLICITATION AND SHALL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT. RESPONSES IN ANY FORM ARE NOT OFFERS AND THE GOVERNMENT IS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO AWARD A CONTRACT AS A RESULT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. NO FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE TO PAY FOR PREPARATION OF RESPONSES TO THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. ANY INFORMATION SUBMITTED BY RESPONDENTS IS STRICTLY VOLUNTARY.  Contractor Requirements: The Contractor shall provide all equipment, parts, rigging, startup, installation, and training for Beckwood 1200-ton Elastomeric Sheet Metal Forming Press. Specifications: The Contractor shall provide one (1) Elastomeric Forming Press and all parts and equipment that shall meet or exceed the following requirements. Beckwood 1200-ton elastomeric sheet metal forming press including the following features. Custom frame 4-post press, downward acting ram Light curtain safety interlock on open side(s) of press.  Metal rear and side doors / guarding Remote operated two-handed control, 10’ of cable, locking casters on the pedestal. 480V 3 phase power at 60hz shall be the only power input from the facility.  Spare parts kit (seals and filters) 36”x60” forming area with 24” daylight Assembly shall use a set of three (3) rubber pads, 4” thick, 60a durometer Assembly shall have a means of ejecting spent rubber pads using the power of the press or include any special tools needed for pad changes.  Telescoping lower platen shuttle that comes out “like a CD tray” for loading and unloading of the press, 500 lb minimum capacity when in extended position. Integrated jib boom (500lb capacity minimum) with 6’ reach from front of press, with electric hoist to facilitate loading and unloading heavy tooling onto the lower platen when in the extended position.
