The Department of Defense, specifically the Department of the Air Force, is seeking industry input through a Request for Information (RFI) regarding solutions to sustain audio programming for the American Forces Network (AFN) in Europe, as the current Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite service will be discontinued in March 2026. The RFI aims to identify commercially available technologies capable of delivering AFN stereo audio programming, particularly "The Eagle" service, to remote and isolated transmitter sites, emphasizing the need for secure and reliable transmission methods, including encryption and redundancy. This initiative is crucial for maintaining communication capabilities for military personnel stationed in challenging locations, ensuring a minimum of 99.9% annual uptime for audio delivery. Interested vendors must submit their responses by July 11, 2025, and can direct inquiries to John Seacrist at john.seacrist@spaceforce.mil.
