Miniaturization, Modulation, and Chip Scaling of Photonic Technologies
SBIR Opportunity Analysis
The Missile Defense Agency seeks Small Business Innovation Research proposals to advance and adopt chip-scale photonic and quantum technologies for integration into the Missile Defense System. Selected small businesses must develop low size, weight, and power transceivers compatible with modern sensors and provide a pathway to common building block technologies for software-defined radios. Phase I requires establishing a roadmap to reach Technology Readiness Level 6, while Phase II involves testing the technology in a realistic, system-level testbed. Because this effort is subject to strict ITAR and EAR regulations, foreign national restrictions apply, and contractors must meet Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 1 requirements. Interested parties must submit proposals through the Department of Defense SBIR portal between the opening date of July 22, 2026, and the closing deadline of August 19, 2026, with technical inquiries directed to Brandon Becker and Torrey Bettis.
